North of Ireland

We woke up wayyy too early (6 a.m.) and checked out of our fabulous hotel in Dublin so we could "hire a car" and get to Belfast early to meet our tour guide. We arrived in Belfast about 11 a.m. and did a two hour tour - we got amazing intel from Sean and saw the peace wall, memorials and murals from the conflicts and where the Titanic was built. Sean asked us at 1 to wait a couple of hours for lunch until we got up to the Antrim Coast. We stopped three times on the way up for some cool pics. We went to so many places today I can't even list them all. We are exhausted! We saw the Antrim Glens, the Giant Causeway, Carick-a-rede (sp?) and Scotland (about 30 times!). It's amazing in the "north of Ireland". Indescribable. Pictures later...

We stopped for a sandwich about 4:30 just before a little shop closed. We skipped dinner b/c we didn't get to our BandB until late. No Guinness for us tonight, boo, but we need a good sleep. We are driving to Kilkenny tomorrow, about a five hour drive considering we are almost in Scotland.

Yay for Ireland! and being married for a long time (to the same person)

Okay 10  years isn't a long time - especially in Dublin terms. We started off the day by sleeping in, which means no one woke us up. We WOKE UP ON OUR OWN. And then... we did something crazy. We went around the corner for breakfast.

Once we were ready to hit the town we went to St. Patrick's Cathedral, which was built in 1190, and was rebuilt in the 1300s. We walked to the Guinness Storehouse for the tour and lunch. It was fun to see the history of the beer that we love, which was crafted in 1759. Afterwards we went to the Jameson's distillery, which was totally lame. Boring. Never do it.  The whiskey was good tho!

We had dinner at Cafe en Seine - Chris had the best lamb he's had and I had fish. Check out FB for a pic. We are headed to Northern Ireland tomorrow - Belfast and the Giants Cauesway. Slan Go Foill

Arriving in Dublin

Chris and I arrived in Dublin before sunrise, about 6:30 a.m. Thank goodness for the in-flight movies and kindles, we had an uneventful trip in. I saw Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and Chris watched Hangover 2 and Green Lantern.

When we arrived we were too early to check-in to our hotel so we took off on a walk. We had breakfast on Grafton Street at Beweley's and then saw Dublin Castle, City Hall and Trinity College (Book of Kells). We checked into our room about noon and crashed until 3ish. We had dinner at a Tapas Bar -Salamanca- and then went to the Temple Bar area. After dinner we went to O'Donoghue's and Reilly's for pints.

We are staying at the Merrion Hotel in Dublin and it's been a great place. We sat in the bar chatting forever and amazed by the locals. Can't wait to try the Irish coffee tomorrow and see the Guinness factory!

Chris and I chatted at dinner about our wedding 10 years ago and what we have fond memories of from that weekend. We are curious what others remember. Our favorites were (in no specific order):
1. Crazy delivery guy from Leo's BBQ for the rehearsal dinner
2. Uncle Brad's embarrassing antics
3. Kurt beat boxing at the reception
4. Helming (and someone I can't remember) trying to dirty dance w/ me and ripping my skirt!
5. Sean Otto driving thru the park (missing the road)

What do you remember?
